Welcome to the Oh, shift blog!
01/12/2010
This is a place for us to share our shift.
Literally, I want to hear from you as much as you want to hear from me. So let’s do this.
What shifts have you created in your life?
When did you say “Oh, shift!” to change your reaction to life’s challenges?
How are you spreading the Oh, shift message so others can benefit too?
Tell me! Tell us!
We are in this together so let’s act like it!
I will comment on every comment. That’s my promise to you.
How will you show up?
I can’t wait to find out.
Hugs to you.
I am so glad you are here:)

I have loved this philosophy ever since I first read Epictetus. If you haven’t read him, Jennifer, you would LOVE this guy, except he communicates in dense hard to read (and translate) ancient greek. I am so stoked you have brought this amazing state of mind into a readable, modern format!
I’ve been meaning to buy your book since it launched, but put it off. I had some big shifts happen today, and I really want to retain this state of mind! Your book is just the ticket to help me do that.
Saweeet! Thanks for the tip! I will be sure to look up Epictetus. And yes, this is not new information, just repackaged in a more digestible format. So glad the message resonates. When you get the book, I’d love to hear your feedback. Until then…make shift happen:)
Hugs, Jen
I’ve got your feedback right here!

I love the shifting going on! This is one of the first new years that I have felt that I really turned a corner. Yeah! I am feeling in a lovely state of neutral mind where I am letting things roll on by instead of getting caught up in them.
i.e. We just had to change our vacation. Instead of leaving this Friday we are putting it off for 2 months as my hubby has hurt his back. As I sat with it, I felt good. For a few reasons! 1. Jim and I always have fun no matter what we do and don’t need to go on vacation to achieve that. 2. I was feeling that it was not the right time to do some of the visiting and trusted that the Universe would take care of all of it. IN the past I would have been so disappointed and maybe even angry at Jim. Silly, but real. I don’t feel that at all. Ahhhhhhhh……………………lovely…………….
So, all good, all flowing. Thanks for all the shifting encouragement!!
Good shift going on………..
Way to shift, Elizabeth! It DOES feel good doesn’t it? And isn’t that what we are here to do anyway?
So proud of you for seeing this reality from a perspective that serves your higher good.
That’s good shift, sista!
Hugs to you…
Jen
P.S. Keep sharing…it inspires others.
Jennifer, you are such a wonderful role model. You set the example by being the person you want to be.
I continually realize that it is never to late to make a major shift. I want to, and will, create an amazing new product soon, and I am also looking forward to developing my accounting skills!
Sincerely,
Lauren

Yay, Lauren!
Way to put it out there! Declaring what you want is the first step in manifesting it:)
Never, ever forget how amazing you are. Unlimited abundance is yours in every moment. Create from that mindset and you will be unstoppable!

I had a guy pull in front of me the other morning as I was winding out of the subdivision. It’s a 25 zone and I comfortably go 30 (no kids, no bikes) most days. He was going 12 miles an hour.
As I crept along behind him, I had a classic O-Shift moment. I felt a wave of gratitude that this guy had gotten up and timed his departure perfectly so he could get in front of me, so he could help me learn patience.
And what a selfless thing for him to do, and how hard he was working at it.
It would have been ungrateful of me not to have taken the lesson he was offering so eagerly. So I did.
I increased my following distance and felt a huge wave of gratitude (and some wry humor) that Mr. Turtle was doing me this favor.
Funny thing is, this was all mostly a joke in my head, yet it worked — I remained calm and relaxed. I chose my emotion by controlling my interpretation.
Yes! That’s it, Tom! That’s the shift I’m talking about!!
The little moments of each day that challenge you to choose your emotions, perspective and reactions wisely. So that they serve you and not defeat you. AND the best part is that you brought in that awesome TOM COX HUMOR to make it easier. You are pure amazing-ness. Thanks for sharing.

Dear Tom—what a great thing for you to do! What great shift! You are an inspiration. That is exactly what I needed to hear. That is probably my most impatient time; driving in the car and getting angry. About what??!! Bless you for your lovely lesson.
Elizabeth
Yeah, me too. What’s with the car that makes us so crazy?
When I get behind someone that is annoyingly slow, I consider the possibility that they are deep in thought about the missing link in the cure for cancer. That gives em a hall pass every time!
Like Tom, I love to bring humor to it.

Beautiful thought!

Jennifer – the back cover of your book hooked me. I too am a self-reflection whore. If buying books could cause enlightenment, I’d be a freaking solar system. The message in Oh ShiFt is timeless and I’ve seen variations of it in many of the spiritual and self-improvement books, but YOUR book put it in a way that is fun, accessible, and memorable. I have been dealing with huge changes in pretty much every sector of my life, and am excited about using the Oh ShiFt moments to help me turn from worry and fear to visualizing what I want.
As soon as I finished the book, I got on Amazon and ordered four more to give to friends.
Yay! Good for you Connie. And thanks for sharing the shift with others! That’s what it is all about:)
Many hugs,
Jennifer
Dear Connie—same here on being hooked after reading the back cover. I, too, am a self reflection whore. Can’t get enough of it. AND the book said it so well and so wittily. I am a BIG FAN of Jen and her book. Read so many self help and spiritual books and this is now one of my absolute favorites! It is to the point! Yeah!!
love, Elizabeth
Jennifer: Your “O Shift” emails started arriving just as I was seriously thinking about how and who I wanted to spend the next 5-10 years of my working life, what was making me crazy and stressed out and frustrated about where I was and what I loved about it. So in mid-Dec through a series of the most amazing “coincidences” I realized the time was right to leave the company I’ve been with for 9.5 years. I realized I love being a health insurance agent but it was time to go out on my own, find the products I wanted to have in my portfolio instead of waiting for someone else to provide them for me. So in one brilliant week I cut all the ties, walked away from a serious amount of stock and felt free at last! Then we left for Hawaii for 2 weeks over the holidays. We “vacation” a lot but this is the first time in years I truly felt relaxed, renewed and enjoyed every second of the time away. I was able to do some research, get the appointments I needed, find the products I want to represent, spent a glorious week in Chicago getting training on them and now I’m starting my new career. I went from a $2.2 million veteran to a newbie! But it feels like I’d been in reverse or neutral for the last 4 years or so and now I’m shifting into first gear on my way to high speed! Sometimes the thought of what I did terrifies me and then I remember how light and free I feel and know that if I did it once I can attract all the business I want again and it will be better than ever. So every time I get one of your “O Shift” emails that’s exactly how I feel!
CONGRATULATIONS KAREN!!! I am so proud of you.
Continue to follow what you know to be true and you will always find JOY. What a fantastic journey you are on:)
Oh, shift!!
Hugs,
Jennifer
P.S. Yahoooooo!!! For you!!!!!
I found your book when I was doing research for a conflict resolution class. What a blessing! I would like to use some of your ‘shift-ism’s’ in my teaching and in my newsletter. Talk about a promo… I put a picture of you and your book in my newsletter that goes out tomorrow. I got it from the website and I cited the reference, so I hope that is okay! I would love to make your book required reading for my nurses and techs!
Thanks for shifting my attitude so that I can pass the ‘shift’ along!
How awesome, Ruthie! Of course, I LOVE when people are excited about sharing the Oh, shift message. That is what it is about!!
You are such a blessing to your nurses and techs.
Stay amazing and keep shifting:)
Many hugs,
Jennifer
P.S. thank you for being the light…
ShiFting in action … Last week I went to an office retreat which was guaranteed to raise a lot of tough issues. In the days leading up to it, I was waking up around 3 a.m. filled with anxiety and dread, envisioning all the possible scenarios and how I would react to them. After reviewing Oh ShiFt on the airplane, though, I realized the obvious … I could shift my attitude BEFORE the meeting. In my hotel room the night before, instead of continuing to obsess over worst case scenarios or reading the economic reports for the umpteenth time, I spent the time journaling. I focused on how much affection and respect I have for the people I work with, the years we have been together, the way they’ve been there for me through some really tough personal issues, how hard it is on everyone to tackle sensitive issues, and how we are all so alike on the most fundamental levels. It made all the difference in the world in my attitude and the way I reacted and responded, which in turn created a major shift in the tone of the weekend. Thank you Jennifer! Connie
That’s it Connie!! That’s the way you do it. You bring up a good point, that you CAN be proactive with shifting. We don’t have to wait till the actual moment, we can choose our perspective BEFORE it happens. How awesome is that? So smart you are.
Glad your weekend was fabulous. Give yourself a big pat on the back.
You rock!!
Hugs,
Jennifer
